New Projects - May 2008 Lots of new things have been happening recently... Editing of 'itch' is well underway and it's easily the eeriest dance film FireBox has made to date. On top of this Susan Elena will be filming regular FireBox dancers, Suzi Kelly and Gillian Smith, as they combine contemporary dance and pole dancing with exciting results. Susan has also been approached by YDance to document Project Y, their performance project for young aspiring dancers, this summer and the company is busy working on an interactive performance piece which will be shown as Susan's Masters degree show. Busy, busy, busy. Spring Clean - April 2008 As regulars will have spotted the site has been given a bit of a spring clean to make it even more of a lean, mean, info machine. Montage Video Dance Festival - February 2008 FireBox Dance Theatre is very pleased to announce that Dark Matter has been selected to be screened at the Montage Video Dance Festival in Johannesberg, South Africa this weekend. "Last year, Montage was named ‘a world beater’ by Adrienne Sichel and this year will again give you a line up of dance videos that are exciting, innovative and astounding. Jeannette Ginslov and Gerard Bester of Walking Gusto Productions have selected the best of local and international video dance works for this year’s festival. The video dance works involve dance, choreography, animation, special effects and the moving image made specifically for the screen to amplify the video dance makers’ intentions." *Taken from FNB Dance Umbrella 2008 brochure.
Filming in February - February 2008 FireBox Dance Theatre were approached by Jarprocess, a Glasgow based film production company, to dance in their new film, Dog Walker Cafe. The scenes were shot on a bitterly cold night in a car park in Clydebank - ooh the glamour! More information on screenings as soon as they are confirmed. We have also been experimenting with lights and still cameras in rehearsals with a view to creating a new piece this year. Susan will be spending some more time on this idea during her rehearsal time at The Arches. New Year New Look - January 2008 With new images by Derrick Linton and a new knowledge of HTML, Susan Elena decided it was time for an update. Please get in touch with any comments or suggestions you have about the new site. Special thanks to Dan Norton for his assistance in getting this site up and running.
